Greenstone is highly valued as a Taonga (treasure), partly because of its rarity but mostly because it plays an important role in Māori culture. While legends regard Greenstone as a protective stone, it's also used for mental clarity, physical healing, strength, fertility, luck, and ancestral connections. Pounamu is believed to possess mana, a spiritual power that connects the wearer to their ancestors and the natural world.
